The Ribas Mission has graduated 1,083,000 bachelors in 14 years and there is about 250,000 people currently studying in it, Education Minister Elías Jaua reported Friday.

"Today we must congratulate the Ribas Mission, which is celebrating its 14th anniversary of being founded by our Commander Hugo Chávez," said Jaua, who invited the community to attend the anniversary main event Friday afternoon, in the Endogenous Development Nucleus Fabricio Ojeda, located in the Gramoven area in Caracas.

Ribas Mission was the second educational mission born in revolution to support people who had been excluded from the traditional education system or who have not finished their bachelor’s degree. It is inspired by the patriot leader José Félix Ribas, who on February 12, 1814 commanded the group of teenagers who defeated Boves in the battle of La Victoria.

More than one million high school graduates "would not have been able to finish high school if there were no revolution here, if Hugo Chávez had not left a legacy of love for our people, continued by President Nicolás Maduro," the minister said after the deployment of the “Somos Venezuela Movement” in Caracas.

Jaua stressed that the mission is developing a new stage focused on training for production and work, with the variant of Mission Ribas Productiva, which President Maduro urges so that students who complete their bachelor’s degree are inserted into economic and productive programs of the country.
