International Committee for Peace and Dignity to Peoples repudiates brutal US blockade against Venezuela

“The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has once again shown his contempt for international legality and the repeated violation of the founding Charter of the United Nations, by signing on Monday an Executive Order extending the economic, commercial and financial blockade against the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela”.

This is what the International Committee for Peace and Dignity to Peoples warns from Cuba, which expresses that the US goverment is not satisfied with the damage it has already caused with the confiscation and theft of Venezuelan funds and its main source of resources, PDVSA, now it freezes the assets of the Venezuelan government and prohibits any economic transaction with the legitimate government of President Nicolás Maduro.

Remember that Trump and his hawks reiterate again that “all options are on the table”, in clear allusion to the possibility of military intervention; threat that has failed for 8 months because of the resistance of the Venezuelan people and their Bolivarian National Armed Forces -FANB-, which they have not been able to divide or bend.

“Coincidentally, with the new announced measures, an International Conference convened by the Lima Group took place in Peru, in which the United States, in its supposed “observer” role, designed the road map. Among the participants could not miss the most despicable and warlike of the falcon advisers of Trump, John Bolton, who had the nerve and hypocrisy to affirm in his speech that Maduro uses death squads, trained and equipped by Cuba, to kidnap, imprison, torture and kill almost 10,000 of its citizens. The Lima meeting ended in nothing, with the absence of more than a half of the guests. It only served as a US tribune of threat and outbursts to those who do not fold to their interests”, he says.

The Committee also reiterates its full solidarity with the people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the legitimate president Nicolás Maduro. It makes an urgent call to repudiate this flagrant violation of the human rights of the Venezuelan people.

“Let us ask Commissioner Bachelet whether or not it is a crime for the greatest power on the planet to attempt to render the sovereign will of an entire people by starve. Let us ask what measures will be taken against the US, which, year after year, mocks the resolutions of the vast majority of countries against the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba for more than half of a century and now wants to apply it against Venezuela”, it concludes.
